Hepatitis Doc

Richard Andrews, MD, MPH

I am not a hepatologist (liver specialist) or an infectious diseases specialist; I'm more of a primary care "hepatitis-ist".

My specialty training was in preventive medicine (Johns Hopkins Univ.) & family medicine (Georgetown Univ.).

I am a former co-chair of the National Task Force on Hepatitis B.

I have a lot of experience with treating uncomplicated cases of chronic hepatitis B & chronic hepatitis C.

I train doctors, NP's, PA's, pharmacists, & health care teams about hepatitis care.

Most people with hepatitis don't yet have complications like advanced cirrhosis or liver cancer.

Fortunately, with appropriate care, those complications can usually be prevented.

If you do have advanced liver disease you should be under the care of a hepatologist.

I currently live and work in Houston, Texas.

I have a Texas medical license, & have applied for California, Oregon, & West Virginia medical licenses.

I am looking for a position, in Texas or elsewhere, where I can treat hepatitis B & C.

I am available to do hepatitis teaching in Texas or elsewhere.

I work in addiction medicine and am DEA-waivered to prescribe buprenorphine for opioid use disorder.
